Quran app development
Quran app development with verified text, translations and audio
A Qur'an app carries a special responsibility. The text must be exact, the Arabic must render correctly, and the reading and listening experience should feel calm and respectful. Getting the engineering right is part of showing that respect.
Theme29 builds Qur'an apps for iOS and Android in Flutter. Zabi, our Islamic companion app, includes the Qur'an with English, Bangla, Arabic and Spanish translations, transliteration, a phonetic guide and audio from multiple reciters. This page explains what goes into an app like that.
What a Qur'an app needs
Arabic text and typography
The text is loaded from a verified source and displayed with a suitable font, correct diacritics and proper right-to-left shaping. We test how it renders on many devices and text sizes.
Navigation
Browse by surah, juz' or page, jump to a specific ayah, and continue from the last-read position.
Translations and transliteration
Choose from several translations, displayed beside the Arabic. Zabi ships English, Bangla, Arabic and Spanish translations plus a transliteration and phonetic pronunciation guide.
Audio recitation
Play a surah or single verse from a selected reciter, with repeat and continuous play. Streaming and optional downloads are both possible.
Search
Find verses by Arabic text or translation, handling diacritics and spelling variants so results are useful.
Bookmarks, notes and progress
Save places, mark reading goals and track progress through a khatam, kept privately on the device or in an account.
Content accuracy, licensing and respect
These are the questions we raise before any code is written.
Verified sources only
The Arabic text and each translation should come from an established, verified edition. We recommend that your own scholars review the content before publication and after each update.
Check the licence of everything
Translations, recitations, fonts and tafsir are usually licensed separately, some with attribution or no-modification conditions. We help you record and honour each licence.
Never alter the text in the pipeline
Data conversion, caching and search indexing are places where text can be accidentally changed. We add automated checks against the source so it cannot.
A reverent interface
Calm typography, no clutter around verses, sensible audio behaviour and clear controls. Anything unrelated should be kept away from the text.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do you make sure the Qur'an text is accurate?
We use an established, verified text as the source, keep it unchanged through the data pipeline with automated comparison checks, and recommend your own scholars review the app before launch and after updates.
Can the app include several translations and reciters?
Yes. Each translation and recitation has its own licence terms, which we check and record. Zabi ships with four translations and multiple reciters.
Can it work offline?
Text and translations can be bundled for offline reading. Audio can be streamed or made available as downloads, depending on storage and licensing.
Can you add memorisation or learning tools?
Yes. Repeat, hide-text and progress features can be added, and we can design them with teachers or programmes you work with.
Do you build Hadith apps too?
Yes. Hadith collections need careful sourcing and attribution, so we apply the same verification approach. Zabi includes a Hadith compilation.
